Ben's News Section
12th May 1999 Quake 3 Test is alot of fun (Ben will be unavailable for the next week or so): As you may have guessed, I have downloaded the test version of quake3, and I am now in a perpetual state of raptue. This game is GOOD!!! At first I was thinking "how can they posibly improve on gob-smacking Quake 2?" but baby they did! I recomened going out any getting a very fast PC so we all can have one big death match! DISCLAIMER... Early mornings and the all the Quake 3 related exctiment seem to have melted Bens brain. Anything he says should be considered complete sillyness and should be reguared with flippancy. 11th May 1999 Quake 3 Test OUT NOW!! (Ben has a semi): Yes that's right!! The test version 1.05 is out and the net is going nuts! What are you doing still reading this? Get your arse over to Planet Quake, find a mirror close to you and start downloading. ID software have asked that people take it easy on their servers as they are still updating their sites and that becomes quite difficult when they are getting thousands of people hammering away at the server. I don't think I have seen this much excitment about a test release ever! I can't wait to try it out, but I think that may take some time, all the servers I'm logging into are full so I'll just have to patient and so will you. Do you think it was a good ploy for ID to hype this test version so much?.. Was it ID that hyped it all up, or was it the online media? Are you as excited about Quake 3 as me (note the head line.) You must have an opinion... Contact Me and I'll post your thoughts. 28th April 1999 Ben is Bored: Not much worthwhile news today. But I have made my URL much easier to remember (for all my fans who suffer from Senile Dementia, come on now I know you're out there) The new URL is: http://welcome.to/BensClassics See? Now, if you can't remember that tomorow, book your self into a nursing home. NOW! I got this nifty URL from V3... You too can be a cool as me (nearly) goto http://come.to/ and join the funky crowd! 27th April 1999 YeeeHaaaw it's my first ever News page! Quake III Arena test relased for Mac: The Quake III test is out! But unless your a Mac user, you wont be playing it. The reasoning for this seemingly crazed move by ID is quite simple, once you think about it. The current release of Quake III Arena is a test release, this means that it will have a few bugs (or tonns). The idea is to have users test the software on their home computers, then send bug reports back to ID. Since this is the first public test release it will have quite a few bugs. Imagine the flood of Email ID would recieve if this was a Windows 9x version. They are just making life easier for themselves, by limiting the user base for the first few tests. Fair enough? For More info check out PlanetQuake Bleem! vs SONY (the little guys win): "Bleem!", is a Playstation emulator for the PC, it runs very well and is not illegal at all (a court decided that one). Most Playstation emulators require a ROM dump of the playstation BIOS, owning a copy of this ROM without owning a playstation is illegal. To get around this the Bleem! aurthors wrote their own BIOS. So everything should be cool right? WRONG! SONY took the creators of Bleem! to court sueing for infringement of intellectual property rights among other things. However after a long and expesive court battle the creators of Bleem! won and are now taking orders for the emulation software. For more info surf on over to Bleem!.com |
Game Features coming soon.(When I am finished with a feature I'll post it, not before!) Gran Turismo Quake I, II and III. (With other ID games, I think this will be a feature on ID software.) Gold Box Games. (The old Dungeons & Dragons system. There were so many games I'm just featuring the game engine, which remained largly unchanged for many years.) |
