GAMING TERMINOLOGY

BIOS: Something something [O]perating [S]ystem. When your computer boots up it goes through the BIOS ROM and finds all the information it needs on the current hardware setup, you can change these settings, but you'll probobly stuff your computer. So I think you should DO IT!

EMULATION: Software which reproduces exactly the hardware of any system. Tricking your comupter into thinking it's something else. Considered illegal by some morons, it is actually quite challenging and very fun!

FRAG: To score a kill in Quake. Or a Quake like rip off.

GAMER: An individual who recognises that he/she LOVES to play computer games and has no problems admiting it.

GAMER, HARDCORE: An individual who LOVES computer games to such a degree that he/she will do anything to keep gaming. Not only playing on his/her current system but he/she feels the urge to fork out tons of cash to "upgrade" in order to play the latest games. (note the Hardcore game is a media fiction, somthing for little gamers to aspire to be, so they become good little consumers.)

ROM: [R]ead [O]nly [M]emory. These are chips that have one set of instructions which cannot be changed. Nintendo cartidges use ROM chips as does your PC's BIOS.

WINDOWS 9x: This refers to the Windows 95 and Windows 98 opperating systems, it's just a faster way to write it.
